How to use the Score Calculator

  1. 1

    Pick the skill

Choose Listening or Reading. Listening uses one table; Reading needs Academic or General.

  2. 2

    Enter correct answers

Type how many items you got right from 0 to 40 after a scored practice pack.

  3. 3

    Read the band

Use the result as a weekly target marker, then open error review for the misses behind the number.

  4. 4

    Log the pack

Note pack name, date, raw score, and band. Trends matter more than a single conversion.

How raw scores become bands

Listening and Reading are marked objectively. Public conversion charts map correct answers to bands from 0 to 9 in 0.5 steps.

Academic and General Training Reading do not share the same cut-offs. Mixing them up is a common planning mistake.

Tables used here follow widely published study conversions. Exact boundaries can vary slightly by test form, so treat results as guidance.

Worked example

You finish an Academic Reading pack with 30/40 correct. On a typical public Academic table that sits around band 7.0.

The same 30/40 on General Training Reading often converts lower because GT usually needs a higher raw score for mid bands. Always toggle the module before you trust the number.

When to use this calculator

  • Immediately after Listening or Reading section practice.
  • When comparing Academic vs General Reading progress on separate logs.
  • Before you set the next week’s target (for example moving Listening from 6.5 toward 7.0).

Practice next

Use numbers to choose the next study block

A rising Listening raw score with a flat Reading score is a clearer signal than an overall band alone.

Convert after every scored pack, then spend the next session on the skill that is lagging. When both L and R sit at target, book a full mock.
